FROM VICELAND MAGAZINE…
Dischordant, off-kilter riffs collide with yelped vocals and the occasional touch of keys. The Fall, Wrangler Brutes and Pere Ubu can be heard faintly yet they don’t directly sound like any of them. Or anyone else really. Henry from Lovvers plays guitar and the whole thing is totally joyous but always slightly foreboding. We like creepy music and it is all killer, in both senses. Like “no filler” and like “I am scared of this dude, he is weird and I think he might stab me.”

KTD! were started by two main Nihilists (of the former international fame of Moimir Papalescu & The Nihilsts), La Petite Sonja /voc., keyb., synth./ and Hank J. Manchini /voc., guit./ with an old-school-punk-rock guitarist Richard Fischer (also of Take Death). The trio was joined by hammering drummer Vratislav Placheta (Green Monster and also of The Nihilists) and a heavy-duty bass man Martin Růžička of the The Ritchie Success. Within the last three years of its quiet existence, this remarkable Prague’s gang played dozens of gigs at home, in the Czech Republic, then also in Germany or Switzerland.
KtD! – it’s a leathal sonic cocktail of the sixties‘ garage rock with thick layers of hammonds, analog synths and wild guitar bites on top. Their deep sources of inspiration could be framed by The Cramps-esque psychotic rock’n’roll, Lee Hazelwood’s loli-poppy country ballads, The Velvet Underground’s unbrushed rawness and Phil Spector’s noisy wall of sound. Maybe therefore the Kill The Dandies! are so sweet and dangerous at the same time.
…and now it is finally the awaited long length debut album „I Saw White Fields“ – on Berlin‘s BLASS Music / FREIBANK, distributed by Pale Music Int.
Producing the album were the „Dandies“ themselves together with the legendary „flying“ Dutch Bert Neven, amongst many others known for working with the KILLING JOKE. Guesting highlights on the record marked Berlin’s Warren Suicide’s singer Chérie, an of course, the one and only Steve Morell (Pale Music Int., Blass Music / Freibank).

Optimo (Espacio) (‘Optimum Space’) was a weekly Sunday-night club based in Glasgow, Scotland at the Sub Club on Jamaica Street, as well as a collective moniker for the night’s resident DJ duo. Having run every week since it was founded in 1997, on Thursday 11 March 2010, it was announced on the official facebook page that the weekly nights would come to an end on Sunday 25 April 2010. However, JD Twitch and JG Wilkes would continue to tour, promote and release music as Optimo.
Often known simply as “Optimo,” the club takes its name from the eponymous Liquid Liquid song and 1983 EP title. JD Twitch and JG Wilkes (real names Keith McIvor and Jonnie Wilkes), the club’s founders and resident DJs, are also collectively known as Optimo and have toured in Europe, America, and Japan and released music under that name. Renowned for its diverse music policy, the club retains a reputation for adventurous innovation and hedonism. The technical side of the club has been written about in the Guardian. Twitch and Wilkes were described by Pitchfork Media in 2006 as being “one of the best DJ duos going right now.”
Optimo
In November 2006, Optimo appeared on Radio 1’s “Essential Mix.”
Optimo regularly receives reviews from the media. For example, The Skinny published an article in December 2006 saying that Optimo is “still one of Scotland’s best and most charismatic nights” and awarded it a “shiny gold star.” In another article from the same magazine, the Optimo DJs were described as having a “special talent for mixing every genre under the sun.”

Immersing themselves in the metropolis ideal of London, Red Drapes began to create melodious portraits of lovelorn places and their inhabitants. People, the self, and the romanticised notion of cities failing are all subject matters and lyrical stimulus. Themes of isolation, banality, unhappiness can be felt and a dystopian and somewhat nihilistic view of modern life is documented and encapsulated in their songs.

Shunda K started her career with Shon B as a duo named Yeah Majesty before they were rounded out circa 2001 by gospel-raised vocalist Jwl B. They started collaborating with London-based electronica duo HardfeelingsUK (David Alexander and Richard Winstanley), who supplied the newly named Yo! Majesty with their electro-rap club beats, in 2002. Once they established a name for themselves on the underground club circuit, both in the US and the UK, Yo Majesty self-released their first official release, the Yo EP, in 2006.
They “made a splash” at SXSW in 2007 and that year toured alongside CSS and The Gossip. The group signed with Domino Records in 2007, and the label released an EP and full-length record by the band in 2008, which included a track produced by Basement Jaxx. Shon B left in 2008, soon after the group was signed, leaving Shunda and Jwl to tour as Yo Majesty. However, during January 2009 Shunda K was forced to finish the Yo Majesty tour solo as Jwl B was incarcerated as she assaulted a family member. When Jwl B was released, Domino forced Shunda to tour with her, so Shunda left the group and pursued solo interests.
Since splitting from Yo Majesty Shunda K has been very busy. She worked with Peaches on her new album, collaborating on the track Billionaire and released a series of EPs with french producer Flore and Damp Heat all the while steadily working on her double album which is yet to be released under Fanatic Records. She began 2010 by touring in Australia, performing at the roving Big Day Out festival, headlining club gigs and opening shows for friend Peaches .
Shunda’s first single off her new album “The Most Wanted” will be released in July 2010 and is called “Here I Am To Save The World”.
