These New Puritans is a four-piece band which formed in 2006) in Southend-on-Sea, United Kingdom. The band consists of Jack Barnett (vocals, various), his twin brother George Barnett (drums, percussion), Thomas Hein (various) and Sophie Sleigh-Johnson (keyboards).
These New Puritans’ sound is difficult to nail down, as they utilise a wide variety of instruments and sounds, from bassoons to taiko drums. Influenced equally by hip-hop, synth pop, alternative rock and classical music, the Southend-On-Sea fourpiece have received large amounts of critical praise in the early stage of their career. In 2007, These New Puritans were commissioned by Hedi Slimane to compose the soundtrack for the Dior Homme show.
As of now they have recorded two albums, Beat Pyramid (2008) and Hidden, released in January 2010.
